Study Speech and Language Pathology at the Universidad del Rosario!

This is a unique program that integrates life sciences with human and social sciences in order to understand communication as a human process. You will address communication variations and disorders in individuals and communities of all ages.

We have state-of-the-art laboratories for teaching, working on research projects, and entrepreneurship.

We have achieved high-quality accreditation for the third time, awarded by the Ministry of National Education. Resolution No. 11011 of July 6, 2018, effective for 6 years.

CURRICULUM

Studying Speech and Language Pathology at the Universidad del Rosario provides you with the skills necessary for both academic and professional life in different areas. Universidad del Rosario’s core studies will help you develop the skills to learn how to learn, think critically, and communicate effectively both orally and in writing. The common focus in rehabilitation sciences is to integrate different scientific disciplines (both natural and social) within the field of health. When conducting research, students can immerse themselves in an interprofessional research culture. The core studies in Speech and Language Pathology will train you to become a skilled professional in the processes that make human communication possible. These processes include language, speech, voice and swallowing in people of all ages from all walks of life.

  You will study the linguistic and communication models that are most relevant to Speech and Language Pathology.

  You will learn about language, speaking, voice, hearing, and written communication during childhood.
  You will gain an understanding of the principles of measuring and evaluating in therapeutic practice.
   You will study workers’ health conditions.

   You will begin your professional work placements in promoting communicative health and preventing communication disorders.  
  
You will learn about the disorders related to language, speaking, swallowing, the voice, hearing, and written communication during adolescence, adult life, and old age.
  You will study sign language level 1.

 You will undertake intermediate-level professional work placements in community and business settings.
 You will learn about how deaf people communicate and other linguistic variations.
 You will study speech and language therapy intervention models.

  You will undertake intermediate level professional work placements in health and educational settings.
  
You will learn about research project design.
 You will be able to select a research specialization in the following areas: clinical, educational, social and administrative.

  You will undertake advanced level professional work placements in health and educational settings.  
 
Your degree project will involve working as a research assistant, an internship, undertaking coterminal studies in conjunction with the university’s master's programs, or a thesis.
  You will study sign language level 2.

 You will undertake your final professional work placement in a setting of your choice (health, educational, business, or community).
 You will present and share your degree project.
 You will give a seminar on a current topic in Speech and Language Pathology.

DEGREE TRACK

Options

Coterminal studies:


To graduate as a professional in Speech and Language Pathology, you can choose to study towards a master's degree in your final semesters. This option is called coterminal studies, meaning that you will be able to study subjects from your postgraduate course as a degree track option.

Furthermore, you will also have the opportunity to be a research assistant, write a thesis, or undertake a national or international internship enabling you to carry out a formative research project.

You can broaden your knowledge in specific areas of study.

You can broaden your field of study in areas related to your degree.

Throughout your education, you will be mentored by more than 90 professors with a high level of education and professional experience. In the Speech and Language Pathology program, all professors have master's degrees and 50% have doctorates. They are dedicated to participating in national and international networks.
