Public Policies in Colombia and Latin America
The International Certificate in Public Policies in Colombia and Latin America, is part of two lines of research of the School of Economics: development economics and political and public economics. It involves professors with extensive experience in different topics, experts in the use of empirical, analytical and numerical methods that will allow the students to incorporate formal elements of economic analysis for the study of public policy. In addition, the students can broaden the perspective of analysis of social and economic problems from a multidisciplinary perspective.

Courses
The International Certificate in Public Policies in Colombia and Latin America, is aimed at students interested in knowing the process of design and implementation of public policies of the State through the government for the solution of social and economic problems in different areas such as education, health, social security, labor market, poverty, gender, environment, and conflict, among others. Previous knowledge in economics (microeconomics and macroeconomics) and statistics is necessary; ability in the preparation of written documents and mathematical analysis.

Elective Courses:
Students can supplement their studies in forums, conferences and seminars offered each semester by the School of Economics that allow them to put in context the topics seen in class.
Objectives
Understand the elements that justify the intervention of the State in the economy based on the problems faced by Latin American countries.
Identify the intervention mechanisms in public policy applied to different economic and social sectors
Apply the theoretical and technical elements of the impact evaluation of public policies in different contexts and sectors.
Know examples of public policy through the imple- mentation of plans and programs in Latin American countries.
