Background
From its founding to 2015, the research group maintained four areas of research (Strategy, Business Reality, Leadership, and Management), each with its own respective programs and research projects. It also maintained a special research program on teaching administration.
In the second semester of 2015, the group was restructured to address the needs of existing and new educational programs, as well as take into account the evolution of research issues in the fields of administration and management. As a result, seven research areas were established: Leadership and Organizational Behavior, Strategy, International Business and its Environment, Finance and Marketing, Organizational Studies, Entrepreneurship and Innovation, and Healthcare Administration.
A scientific research program called “Programa de Investigación en Reintegración Económica, construcción de paz y post-conflicto en las organizaciones Colombia” (the Economic Reintegration, Peacebuilding, and Post-Conflict in Colombian Organizations Research Program) was also developed.
As mentioned above, DIGE has maintained an A1 classification by Colciencias by meeting quality requirements established at each open call for evaluation by the ministry.
In 2019, in line with our institutional aim to be a “teaching-based university that also conducts research,” the School of Administration began a process of review and adjustments to its research areas based on three specific criteria.
First, the designation of the research area must help reinforce the core values of the School. Second, the research areas under consideration should necessarily serve as the foundation for undergraduate, master’s, and doctoral programs. And finally, the chosen research areas must fall under the umbrella of trending topics in the field of administration and management according to Scival (Scopus).
